’Scoring’ the GFS Course

Racing is about testing yourself against the elements, but we all like to see how we stack up against our previous performances and others. The ‘scoring’ for the GFS Course is different than other races and focuses on fun and improvement. When racers submit their elapsed time for sailing the course, the team at Gale Force Sailing does some quick calculations to see what the average wind speed and direction was during the time you sailed the course. We use the weather information provided at Thomas Point Light to create the averages. Once you submit your race information, we calculate, and post the results online. This allows you to see your performance and those of other participants.
