Our last double noon. And final 150.
Flying fish, Sargasso weed, and birds are more common sights. Our last double-noon came and went. We are on Island Time (UTC-4.)
We celebrated with gifts, fresh baked cookies served on sailboat-shaped shop towel doilies, and funny awards. We also declared today silly hat day and everyone wore a silly hat. Special hat tip (see what I did there?) to “Iron Emma” Garschagen for the silly hat idea. Always a winner.
We split our time between days chasing rainbows and nights chasing Orion down to the horizon. I think we all have mixed emotions about the trip coming to an end. Excited to see and hear from loved ones, but in no rush to go headlong back to land life.
We’ve all found a simple rhythm out here. We are a good team with clear goals and roles. Despite all the variables, there is a “certainty” that we feel here; and nobody seems to be in a rush to trade that in for the complexity that certainly waits for us in port.
150 miles to go. We can’t see land, but we can feel it.
Safe watch. kb out.
